Job Overview

This is a full remote job opportunity available from the United States, specifically Oregon (USA). We're seeking a talented Mid-Level Java Developer to join our dynamic team on an immediate basis. As a key member of our team, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining software systems for government clientele, leveraging your expertise in Java development and government contracting.

Position Summary

As a Remote Mid-Level Java Developer, you will play a crucial role in our government contracting projects, utilizing your Java development skills to create high-performance, scalable, and secure software solutions. Your experience in government contracting will be invaluable in navigating the complexities of this sector. You'll work closely with various teams, including developers, testers, DevOps, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration and timely delivery of top-notch software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy high-performance, scalable, and secure software solutions using Java, Spring Framework, and Maven, ensuring alignment with project requirements and government standards.
  • Analyze existing .NET code and refactor or convert it into effective Java-based implementations, optimizing performance and functionality.
  • Produce clean, maintainable, and efficient Java code by adhering to best practices, design patterns, and coding standards, ensuring long-term sustainability and ease of maintenance.
  • Create and develop modular, reusable components, libraries, and frameworks that are both testable and extensible for future improvements, promoting code reusability and reducing development time.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guarantee seamless integration and timely delivery of superior software, fostering a culture of teamwork and open communication.
  • Utilize Java debugging tools and logging frameworks to identify, isolate, and resolve technical challenges efficiently, minimizing downtime and ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Employ tools to monitor and enhance code coverage, ensuring that critical paths are thoroughly tested and potential problems are addressed early in the development cycle, thereby reducing the risk of downstream defects.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience working with Java/JEE and the Spring Framework, with a strong understanding of Java development principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Green Card Holder, with familiarity with government contracting environments being essential.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Experience with Maven and other build tools, with a strong understanding of dependency management and project lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git.
