Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Education Noon Recess Building Paraeducator to join our team at West Middle School. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in assisting our teachers and students in achieving academic success and personal growth. This is a part-time position, working 3.5 hours per day, 5 days a week, following the 2023-2024 school year calendar. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $14.25 per hour, as well as a $250 signing bonus after completing a 140-day probationary period.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing academic support for students in the General Education program
 - Provide individualized support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with special education requirements
 - Help students understand assignments and assist with projects/research as directed by the classroom teacher
 - Administer tests and assessments to students, as assigned by the Learning Consultant
 - Maintain accurate records of student activities, including daily logs, assignment sheets, and attendance records
 - Operate office and instructional equipment, such as copiers, computers, and video conferencing devices
 - Order materials and supplies for classroom use, as directed by the Learning Consultant/Principal
 - Conduct learning exercises with groups of students and monitor their progress
 - Attend parent/teacher or teacher/student conferences, as requested by the Learning Consultant
 - Support the dispensation and documentation of medication, as outlined under district regulations and the student's Medical Management Plan
 
Essential Qualifications
- Post-secondary credentials, per Rochester Paraeducator Association Master Agreement, including:
 - Completed at least two years of higher education in an approved program (transcripts required)
 - Received an Associate's or higher degree (transcripts or original diploma required)
 - Passed state or local tests designed to demonstrate knowledge and ability in subject areas, as defined by NCLB requirements (test results required)
 - Patience and ability to effectively interact and maintain a professional rapport with students, teachers, parents, and other staff members
 - Experience working in academic instructional support roles, preferably with secondary students
 - Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of student records
 - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and independently with good judgment
 - Ability to promote cultural differences and support students from diverse backgrounds
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
 - Experience providing academic support to students with special education requirements
 - Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques to support student learning
 - Experience with tutoring children in academic subject areas
 - Proficiency in computer literacy, including Word and Excel
