About the Role: As a Medical Billing and Payment Specialist, you’ll be responsible for preparing and submitting insurance claims, posting payments, reconciling accounts, and resolving discrepancies to maintain a healthy revenue cycle. This role requires accuracy, communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims in a timely manner
• Post patient and insurance payments to the correct accounts
• Review and process EOBs and ERAs, ensuring accurate payment application
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies, denials, and unpaid claims
• Follow up on outstanding A/R and communicate with payers to secure payment
• Navigate insurance portals to verify claim status and retrieve remittance
• Collaborate with billing and coding teams to improve accuracy and efficiency
• Communicate clearly with team members and management regarding claim or payment issues.
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience in medical billing, coding and payment posting (preferred)
• Knowledge of EOBs, ERAs, ICD-10, CPT, and insurance billing processes
• Must live in the US.
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care claims and denials
• Strong understanding of insurance correspondence and payer portals
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (formulas, tables, graphs)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
Education & Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Candidates without a degree must have a minimum of five (5) years of direct experience in medical billing and payment posting.
Qualification:
• Associate Degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing & Coding, Accounting, Finance, Health Information Technology, or related field, and at least two (2) years of experience
• Preferred experience in Urgent Care or Mobile Imaging setting
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Health Administration, Finance, or related field, and at least two (2) years of experience
• Certification in Medical Billing, Coding (CPC, CCS, etc.), or Revenue Cycle Management (AHIMA, AAPC, etc.), with continuing education in reimbursement and compliance, and a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Medical Billing and Payment Specialist
