About the Role

We are urgently seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher to join our team in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment. Key Responsibilities

• Provides quality work that engages students in learning and encourages them to develop a love of English and literature
• Possesses knowledge of subject matter content and recognizes and responds appropriately to individual differences in students
• Differentiates instruction for a variety of developmental stages and ability levels, and implements adopted curriculum subject matter standards and assessment instruments to meet school and district goals
• Plans lessons in a logical sequence and demonstrates knowledge of the subjects to be taught and the relationship to other subjects
• Reflects on teaching and devises ways of improving performance on an ongoing basis, and collaborates with other educators to create the most complete educational environment possible for students
• Uses a variety of assessment techniques and/or models to evaluate student performance, and uses formative assessment to improve instruction
• Assumes responsibility for all students to ensure adequate yearly progress as determined by local, state, and federal standards, and participates in the referral-to-placement process for students being referred for Child Study
• Utilizes technology in the teaching and learning process, and provides a physical environment that is safe, orderly, hazard-free, and conducive to learning
• Implements approved disciplinary measures to allow for effective instruction and classroom management, and relates to parents and other community members in a positive and helpful fashion
• Writes, speaks, and presents instruction in a clear, concise, and well-planned manner, and participates in self-initiated and school/district-initiated professional growth in order to maintain licensure and support school improvement efforts

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in English or a related field, and a valid teaching certification in English
• Proven experience as an English Teacher, preferably in an elementary or secondary learning environment
• Excellent knowledge of subject matter content and the ability to recognize and respond to individual differences in students
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and other educators
• The ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons, and to assess student progress and understanding
• Strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following preferred qualifications would be an advantage in this role:

• A Master's degree in English or a related field, and a specialization in a particular area of English, such as literature or language arts
• Experience with technology integration and online learning platforms, and the ability to utilize technology to enhance teaching and learning
• Experience with project-based learning and differentiated instruction, and the ability to design and implement engaging and effective lessons
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead and participate in departmental and school-wide initiatives
• Experience with data-driven instruction and the ability to use data to inform teaching and learning
