Responsibilities
As a Part-Time Music Instructor at Cape Fear Community College, you will be responsible for:
- Providing classroom and laboratory instruction to students in music appreciation, jazz, and applied lessons
- Preparing lesson plans and scheduling classroom activities
- Developing and preparing supplement materials to enhance textbook lessons
- Developing and preparing tests to evaluate student performance and grading individual scores
- Providing classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery and developing laboratory assignments to provide hands-on experience
- Maintaining accurate records of student attendance and performance
- Maintaining and submitting all required paperwork in a neat, accurate, and timely fashion, including but not limited to class rosters, registration forms, pay sheets, attendance forms, and grade rosters
- Overseeing the implementation of policies and procedures related to the required teaching area and in accordance with CFCC policies and guidelines
- Assessing the relevancy and impact of various lessons and recommending improvements as needed
- Overseeing and participating in field studies and assignments, traveling with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
To be successful as a Part-Time Music Instructor at Cape Fear Community College, you will need to possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledge: Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures, principles and procedures of academic and instructional techniques and procedures, current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment, principles and techniques involved in test development and administration, and the Blackboard Platform
- Ability: To interpret and apply College goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, communicate clearly and respectfully, both orally and in writing, establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception, and maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities
Experience and Training Guidelines
To be eligible for this position, you will need to have any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Minimum Education/Training: A Master's degree in Music or a Master's degree and at least 18 graduate semester hours in Music from a regionally accredited college or university
- Minimum Experience: Experience using Blackboard educational technology
- Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills: Prior experience in teaching at the post-secondary level is preferred
