About Disney+ and the Direct‑to‑Consumer Vision

At The Walt Disney Company, storytelling is a legacy that transcends generations. Through Disney+, our flagship streaming service, we bring that timeless magic directly to the homes of millions worldwide. As part of Disney’s Direct‑to‑Consumer (DTC) division, the Global Content Programming and Subscriber Engagement team is the engine that aligns brilliant storytelling with data‑driven strategy, ensuring every subscriber discovers the right content at the right moment.

Our mission is bold: to curate, schedule, and continuously refine a world‑class slate that fuels fan enthusiasm, drives subscriber growth, and strengthens the Disney brand ecosystem. As a Remote Content Planning Manager, you will join a high‑performing, cross‑functional crew that partners with Finance, Operations, Studios, Networks, and International Programming to deliver a seamless content experience across all markets.

The Role: Strategic Content Planning at Scale

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Content Planning, you will serve as the operational hub for Disney+ slate updates, ensuring each piece of content moves through the planning lifecycle with precision and clarity. This role blends analytical rigor, creative insight, and collaborative leadership to keep the global content calendar on time, on brand, and on budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Slate Tracking: Own the end‑to‑end monitoring of content slate updates, from acquisition and production milestones to release dates, ensuring data integrity across all planning tools.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between senior executives, finance partners, studio leads, and international programming teams to align on strategic intent and operational execution.
  • Programming Intent Communication: Translate high‑level strategic goals into actionable programming signals, delivering clear, concise updates that inform marketing, merchandising, and subscriber engagement initiatives.
  • Process Development: Partner with the Sr. Manager to design, document, and scale frameworks that improve global slate planning efficiency, incorporating best‑in‑class practices and emerging technologies.
  • Ad‑hoc Project Leadership: Lead special projects—such as new tooling implementation, cross‑regional forecasting models, or strategic deep‑dive analyses—to address evolving business needs.
  • Executive Reporting: Craft high‑impact summaries, deck presentations, and status reports that surface insights, highlight risks, and celebrate wins for senior leadership.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Foster a solution‑oriented mindset across matrixed teams, driving consensus and timely decision‑making in a fast‑paced environment.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in digital media, entertainment, or a related field with a focus on content strategy, slate management, content curation, or project management.
  • Tool Proficiency: Hands‑on experience with content planning platforms—Airtable is preferred—alongside advanced skills in Excel, Google Sheets, and Google Docs.
  • Communication Excellence: Ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively in written and verbal formats for diverse audiences, including C‑suite executives.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Demonstrated success working within matrixed organizations, showing diplomatic finesse and strong emotional intelligence.
  • Organizational Agility: Proven track record of juggling multiple priorities, meeting tight deadlines, and adapting quickly to shifting business demands.
  • Problem‑Solving Orientation: Natural inclination to identify obstacles, propose data‑backed solutions, and drive implementation with minimal supervision.
  • Passion for Storytelling: Deep familiarity with Disney’s portfolio of brands, franchises, and content pillars, coupled with an enthusiasm for delivering audience‑centric experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in using Airtable to build custom workflows and dashboards.
  • Experience with Subscription‑Video‑On‑Demand (SVOD) platforms or Linear TV programming pipelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of Disney’s iconic brands, characters, and franchise ecosystems, and how they can be leveraged for audience growth.
  • Master’s degree or specialized certifications in media management, data analytics, or project management (e.g., PMP, Agile).

Core Competencies for Success

  • Analytical Acumen: Ability to interpret performance metrics, forecast content demand, and align scheduling decisions with subscriber behavior insights.
  • Strategic Thinking: Skill in connecting day‑to‑day operational details with broader business objectives, ensuring each content decision fuels long‑term growth.
  • Technical Fluency: Comfortable navigating cloud‑based collaboration tools, data visualization platforms, and emerging content management solutions.
  • Leadership Presence: Confidence to influence senior leaders without direct authority, championing data‑driven narratives that guide strategic choices.
  • Creativity & Curiosity: A mindset that constantly asks “what’s next?” and seeks innovative ways to structure content releases that surprise and delight audiences.

  • Mentorship programs with senior leaders in content strategy, product development, and consumer insights.
  • Access to internal learning hubs, including Disney University courses, certifications, and industry‑leading conferences.
  • Potential pathways to senior managerial or director‑level roles within Disney’s programming, analytics, or product teams.
