About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a part-time Library Page. As a Library Page, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including shelving books, preparing materials for circulation, and assisting with programs and events. Key Responsibilities

  • Shelve books, media, and other materials in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring that the library's collections are well-organized and easily accessible to patrons.
  • Prepare materials for circulation, including checking in and checking out items, processing holds, and handling fines and fees.
  • Assist with programs and events, such as author readings, children's storytime, and book clubs, by setting up and tearing down equipment, distributing materials, and providing general support.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patrons, responding to their queries and concerns in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to the library's health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as required, such as processing donations, assisting with inventory, and participating in staff training and development opportunities.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • No experience is required, but previous clerical experience is preferred.
  • Equivalent to completion of the tenth grade.
  • A valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required, due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Previous experience working in a library or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of library software and technology, including integrated library systems and online catalogs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
