Job description: The IVF Laboratory Director oversees laboratory operations and demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills in the IVF and Clinical Laboratory. The IVF Laboratory Director manages laboratory staff and can delegate specific duties as needed. Ultimately, the IVF Laboratory Director is responsible for laboratory operations and must ensure adherence to regulatory oversight (CAP, CLIA, FDA). The IVF Laboratory Director reports directly to the Corporate Lab Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities
• Oversite of the IVF and/or Clinical laboratories and laboratory staff
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Onsite direction of a CCRM IVF and clinical laboratory.
• Assist as a project manager on network lab new technology implementation endeavors as needed.
• Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, FDA and other regulatory agencies.
• Ensure lab is enrolled in and participating in proficiency testing.
• Ensure staff training and competency.
• Track and analyze data for ongoing QA,QC, QI.
• Provide hand on work as an embryologist as needed.
• Help with regular data collection analysis/ assessment for QA,QC,QI.
• Aid in other administrative duties related to cell shipment, cryo billing, inventory, and other embryology related tasks.
• Document patient results in EMR.
• Performs all aspects of medium preparation (makes stock solutions, prepares medium for each case).
• Performs daily, weekly, and periodic maintenance on equipment. Trouble shoots any equipment problems and makes appropriate decisions for repair.
• Cleans embryos with minimal trauma to observe fertilization. Is able to judge fertilization by observation of pronucleii and polar bodies.
• Present in surgery for oocyte retrievals. Is able to locate all oocytes retrieved.
• Processes semen for IVF procedures.
• Performs oocyte inseminations.
• Performs daily quality controls.
• Participates in proficiency testing.
• Performs housekeeping tasks involved in maintaining work area.
• Performs ICSI
• Performs fertilization checks and embryo assessments
• Performs embryo biopsy and associated processes
• Conducts embryo and oocyte vitrification and warming
• Participates in research and continuing education as available.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have PhD and HCLD licensure.
• Minimum 5+ years experience supervising in the IVF laboratory and knowledge of regulatory operations.
• Minimum 5+ years embryology experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office and clinical setting with daily use of surgical instrumentation and equipment; daily use of chemicals such as Formalin; daily use of medical supplies, equipment and materials. [Remove for clinical-only positions: This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, including computer keyboards and mice; telephones; photocopiers; scanners; filing cabinets.
The duties of this position involves a potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues or a potential for spills or splashes of them. Appropriate protective measures are required for every employee engaged in these tasks. The duties of this position also involves occasionally exerting 75 pounds of force, and/or up to 35 pounds of force frequently.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is frequently required to sit; will occasionally stand and/or walk; use hands and fingers to grasp, pick, pinch, type; and reach with hands and arms.
