Overview:

GitHub helps companies and organizations succeed by allowing them to build better software, together. We are looking for an experienced Solutions Engineer to join our Regulated Industries teams, supporting enterprise customers in the US.


Our Strategic Solutions Engineers own the technical relationships throughout the sales cycle, acting as trusted advisors to identify customer challenges, provide feedback to our product teams, and address pain points through GitHub solutions and industry partnerships. They offer industry-specific thought leadership, leading analysis on key strategic accounts and integrating business and industry insights to deliver effective solutions for customers.

Responsibilities:

Customer and Industry Insights:

  • Brings in business and industry insights, develops case studies, and best practices to address the broader business challenges for the customer and deliver solutions
  • Aligns product features and industry partnerships with customer digital transformation initiatives, challenges assumptions, and integrates GitHub capabilities to deliver and enhance customer experiences

Trusted Advisor :

  • Creates connections and feedback loops with Product and Engineering teams, acting as the voice of the customer to EPD

  • Leads analysis of overall customer situation for key strategic accounts, then advises on gaps that would benefit from GitHub solutions

  • Leverages a broad knowledge of GitHub's product landscape, solutions, and strategy to address customer's needs

Technology Strategy Formulation:

  • Analyzes complex customer scenarios, identifies gaps, and develops strategic roadmaps to drive GitHub adoption and long-term business transformation

  • Drives efforts to resolve blockers to solution implementation

  • Validates strategy and plan with customer stakeholders

  • Sales Partnership:
  • Provides strong technical thought leadership, guiding customers on DevSecOps and AI adoption, ensuring successful technology deployments

  • Identifies and understands customer issues to propose viable solutions. Conducts proofs of concept (pre-sales) or demos products (post-sales).

  • Develops and executes enablement plans, driving customer skilling initiatives and maximizing GitHub's strategic value

  • Drives pre-sales activities with large customers. Aligns and influences business partners and customer stakeholders to target a technical win and to drive solution selection. Develops external relationships across multiple levels of influence within the customer organization.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in technical consulting, technical consultative selling, or related technical/sales/industry experience

    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in technical consulting, technical consultative selling, practice building, or related technical/sales/industry experience

    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in technical consulting, technical consultative selling, practice building, or related technical/sales/industry experience

    • OR Doctorate in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in technical consulting, technical consultative selling, practice building, or related technical/sales/industry experience.

    • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience owning all technical aspects of the sales cycle from discovery to qualification to proof-of-concept design/execution to post-sales transition.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% when needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 11+ years experience in technical consulting, technical consultative selling, or related technical/sales/industry experience.

  • 5+ years experience in digital transformation using software modernization to drive customer business outcomes.

  • 5+ years experience in business consulting, consultative selling, or customer-facing experience.

  • Ability to identify and solve technical and business challenges related to software delivery, including demonstrable knowledge of the enterprise Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with prior public speaking experience.

  • Experience working in or with large software development teams, particularly in regulated industries and regulated environments.


Compensation Range: The base salary range for this job is USD $102,200.00 - USD $270,970.00 /Yr.

In addition, this role also has the opportunity to earn sales incentives. On target earnings (OTE) is based on a 70/30 base salary/sales incentive.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
