Industrial Systems Tech Instructor

Savannah Technical College is seeking a full-time Industrial Systems Program Instructor at its Savannah Campus. This position is responsible for teaching students in classroom and lab environments.Responsibilities


  • Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture, lesson planning, student advisement and registration, which may involve split teaching shifts, teaching day/evening classes and/or travel to multiple campuses.

  • Instructs students, evaluates and records student progress in attaining goals and objectives.

  • Advises/counsels students, maintains appropriate student records on each student; provides student registration assistance.

  • Recruits new students into the Industrial Systems Technology Program and manages student retention.

  • Ensures compliance with accreditation standards of regional and national accrediting agencies.

  • Ensures safety requirements are met in the classroom and laboratory environments.

  • Completes reports and responds to requests for information from internal and external departments and agencies.

  • Monitors student use of supplies, materials and equipment. Reports inventory and orders supplies/equipment as necessary.

  • May serve on committees and/or work on projects with other instructional departments/divisions and school-wide planning.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of Industrial Technology.

  • Follows all policies and procedures of Savannah Technical College.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Industrial Systems Technology or related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two (2) documented work experience in the Industrial Systems field or 5+ years industry experience.

  • Additional work experience may be considered in lieu of degree on a year for year basis.

  • Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills along with computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience at a post-secondary institution is desirable.

  • Experience with Mechatronics and Robotics.

  • Experience with drones.

  • Supervisory experience.

Physical Demands:Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and puling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 50LBS. The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in the laboratory environment. The ability to distinguish colors is required for purposes of electrical wiring. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.Salary/Benefits:Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
