Elementary Education Leader: Long Term Substitute Teacher - Grade 4 (2023-2024 SY)

About the Role: As a Long Term Substitute Teacher, you will be responsible for instructing students in grade 4, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and fostering a love of learning that will stay with our students throughout their lives. You will be expected to design and deliver engaging lesson plans, assess student progress, and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined by the Norwalk Board of Education
  • Set clear expectations and routines, managing the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an advantageous learning environment
  • Prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, using appropriate techniques to serve the needs of all learners
  • Demonstrate strong content knowledge and maintain accurate and complete records as required
  • Conduct parent/teacher conferences and assess student learning on a continual basis, identifying areas of intervention as needed

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Active 305 CDE Certification as required by the Connecticut State Department of Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
  • Experience working with students in a diverse school setting, with a strong ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively
  • Effective, active listening skills and ability to work effectively with others
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills, with expertise in writing instruction and an in-depth knowledge of language and written language development
