Job Title: Media and Communications Specialist
Location: Remote – Candidate must be located in NYC and be familiar with the neighborhoods/communities for marketing and promotion of these public hearings.
Travel: None
Job Duties:
• Prepare and distribute timely announcements regarding scheduled hearings and meetings.
• Ensure compliance with applicable public notice requirements and accessibility standards.
• Draft, edit, and disseminate press releases, advertisements, and social media content related to hearings.
• Coordinate with local media outlets to secure coverage and placement of announcements.
• Develop content strategies that increase community awareness and engagement.
• Manage and update social media channels with relevant announcements, reminders, and recaps.
• Monitor community response and engagement.
• Design and oversee the design of print, digital, and social media advertisements for hearings.
• Ensure advertisements are clear, accurate, and consistent with organizational branding.
• Maintain a record of all communications and notices distributed.
Job Qualifications:
• General ability to communicate with project team via email and, on occasion, via WebEx videoconference
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat for PDFs.
• Good time management and ability to work efficiently and independently.
Education and Experience:
• Associate degree.
• 3 years experience.
• Familiarity with the neighborhoods/communities for marketing and promotion of these public hearings.
Preferred Credentials:
• Proficiency with social media and marketing and communication channels.
