Content Creation & YouTube Strategy Lead

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2025-11-02
Content Creation & YouTube Strategy Lead (1-Month Contract, Possible Extension) About Us Electronics power everything around us — but too few people get the chance to truly understand how they work. Circuits are the invisible foundation of our world — forming every robot, AI system, data center, EV, and phone — yet most people never get the chance to learn how they work. Outdated tools, expensive labs, and dry textbooks have pushed electrical engineering majors down 90% from their peak, even as demand for skilled builders has skyrocketed. That’s where we come in. We’ve created the world’s smallest electronics lab — a pocket-sized tool and 200+ component kit that turns any laptop into a complete circuit bench. Paired with step-by-step tutorials, nLab takes learners from zero to building real hardware. Our YouTube channel is how this vision reaches the world. It’s our universal classroom and our growth engine. With over 5,000 kits sold already, we’re now entering our next chapter — scaling our channel to inspire millions of learners, drive our Kickstarter launch, and make electronics education as accessible and exciting as coding once became. Why You? As our Content Creation & YouTube Strategy Lead, every video you create has the power to: • Inspire the next generation of engineers and makers. • Drive thousands of people to discover our Kickstarter and fuel our growth. • Shape how millions of learners around the world experience electronics. • Build a YouTube channel that becomes the go-to hub for hands-on engineering education. You’ll get to experiment, test, and shape what “engineering content” looks like on YouTube. You’ll come away with a highly-visible portfolio of videos and measurable growth that you led end-to-end — a chance to do creative work that isn’t just entertaining, but genuinely changes who gets access to engineering. The Role We’re looking for someone with a proven track record in YouTube content creation and growth who can take ownership of both the creative and strategic sides of our channel. You’ll be responsible for bringing our scripts to life, generating original video concepts, and ensuring every piece of content is optimized for YouTube’s algorithm and our audience. This is a one-month role to cover our Kickstarter launch, with the possibility of extension. Key Responsibilities Video Production & Editing • Transform pre-written scripts into high-energy, engaging long-form videos and shorts. • Create 2–3 original long-form concepts and 5–10 shorts concepts to test for retention and engagement. • Edit videos with dynamic visuals, sound, and pacing that balances education with entertainment. • Guide founders (on what to film / how to film) to ensure consistency with the brand’s new direction. YouTube Strategy & Optimization • Optimize every video for search, discovery, and click-through (thumbnails, titles, descriptions, tags). • Use analytics to track performance, test ideas, and iterate quickly to improve retention and engagement. • Stay on top of YouTube trends and bring fresh formats/ideas into our pipeline. Kickstarter & Growth Alignment • Develop content that drives awareness and conversion for our Kickstarter campaign. • Collaborate with founders on content themes tied to the launch, ensuring messaging is clear and impactful. • Deliver a weekly performance report with insights and recommendations. Social Media Support • Create short clips, graphics, or posts to promote videos across social platforms. • Repurpose content to grow awareness and funnel audiences to YouTube and Kickstarter. Outcomes for the First Month • 2–3 original long-form YouTube videos created and published. • 5–10 original shorts created and published. • Weekly reports delivered with retention, engagement, and subscriber growth analysis. • Subscriber growth, engagement rate, and Kickstarter-driven conversions tracked against baseline. • A clear set of tested formats and insights to guide the next phase of content strategy. What We’re Looking For • Proven track record in YouTube content creation and channel growth. • Strong editing skills with expertise in tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or Final Cut. • Deep understanding of YouTube SEO, analytics, and retention optimization. • Ability to translate brand strategy into engaging, audience-first video content. • Creative self-starter comfortable owning projects end-to-end — from ideation to upload. • Portfolio of work showing past growth/impact (please include links in your application). • Bonus: experience creating educational or tutorial content. Why Work With Us? • Impact: Your work will directly inspire the next generation of engineers. • Visibility: Build a portfolio of work on a channel tied to a fast-growing hardware startup. • Creative Freedom: Experiment with new ideas, formats, and styles. • Mission: Be part of a team solving one of the world’s most overlooked problems — the shortage of people who can build the future’s hardware. • Flexibility: Hybrid preferred (1 day/week in Chicago), but remote possible for the right candidate. If you’re excited about this opportunity, we’d love to hear from you! Have questions or need more details? Don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to chat! In your application, please provide: • 1–2 YouTube channels or videos you’ve worked on that demonstrate your impact. • A brief description of your process for improving retention and engagement on YouTube videos. • Why you think you’re the right fit for nLab and our mission.
